What RaceSync is for

RaceSync is a free Android app for runners who sign up for races online. Runners register for races months ahead, across many different events, and then have to copy each date into their own calendar by hand — and do it again whenever a start time moves. RaceSync removes that work.

It reads the races you are registered for — from RunSignup today, with more sources planned — and writes them onto a calendar it creates for you, called Races, in Google Calendar or Outlook. When a race is added, its start time changes, or a registration is cancelled, RaceSync updates the matching calendar entry so the calendar you already use stays correct without you maintaining it.

How it works

01Install RaceSync and sign in with your race registration account.

02RaceSync reads your race registrations — read-only.

03Choose Google Calendar or Outlook. RaceSync creates one new calendar named Races in that account.

04Each registration becomes an event: the race name, its start time and time zone, the venue address, and your bib number.

05RaceSync re-checks periodically and updates those events when the race details change.

Why RaceSync asks for calendar access

Writing your races onto your calendar is the entire function of the app, and that requires permission to create a calendar and put events on it. RaceSync asks for the narrowest permission that allows this:

Google Calendar — the calendar.app.created scope, which grants access only to calendars RaceSync itself creates. Your existing calendars and their events are never visible to it.
Outlook — Microsoft offers no app-created-only equivalent, so the permission granted there is broader than what RaceSync uses. It still writes only to the Races calendar it created.

What RaceSync does not do

It does not read your existing calendars or their events.
It does not register you for races, withdraw you, or spend money on your behalf.
It does not sell or share your data, and shows no advertising.

Getting RaceSync

RaceSync is an Android app, currently in internal testing ahead of a Google Play release. It is free and contains no purchases or subscriptions.
